Pattern

Foundation ring: Chain 6. Join into a ring with a slip stitch into the very first chain, being careful not to twist the chain before joining. Trim the short starting tail.

Petal 1:

Chain 4 — this sits as a small stem alongside the ring; you’ll work the petal stitches around it, into the center of the ring, not into the chain itself.
Work 3 tr into the center of the ring. As you go, gently scoot your stitches along the ring to keep making room for the petals still to come.
Chain 4.
Slip stitch into the ring to close the petal.

Petals 2–5: Repeat the same sequence — chain 4, 3 tr into the ring, chain 4, slip stitch into the ring — four more times, for 5 petals total.

By your 4th or 5th petal, the ring may feel like it’s running out of room. That’s expected — keep scooting your existing stitches along the ring as much as you can to fit the last petal in. The petals will overlap slightly near the end, which is exactly the fuller, ruffled look this pattern is going for.

Finishing: After your 5th petal’s closing slip stitch, chain 1, then cut your yarn leaving a short tail. Pull the yarn through the last loop to fasten off. Find your starting tail at the back, and tie the two tails together to secure and tighten the center hole closed.
