No-Sew Leggy Frog Crochet Pattern (FREE)
A round-bodied frog amigurumi with four dangly legs built right into the construction — no separate limb pieces to sew on afterward. The legs are worked directly off the body mid-round, then everything closes up together in one final slip-stitch seam.

Pattern
Foundation: Chain 9. Place a stitch marker in the 9th chain (nearest your slip knot) — this marks a reference point you’ll use as the pattern continues.
Round 1: Work 2 hdc into the 3rd chain from your hook (the 2 skipped chains count as your first hdc; your marker sits at the top of this initial ch-2). Sc in each of the next 5 chains. Work 4 hdc into the last chain. Turn to work along the other side of the foundation chain: sc in each of the next 5 chains, then hdc in the last chain. (18 sts)
Round 2: Sc decrease. Sc 7. Sc decrease. Sc 7. (16 sts)
Rounds 3–4: Sc around. (16 sts, both rounds)
Face placement: Attach safety eyes on either side of the face, positioned between Rounds 1 and 2. Embroider cheeks about 1 stitch below each eye, roughly 1 stitch across. Stitch the mouth onto the face between Rounds 2 and 3, about 3 stitches wide.
Round 5: Sc 8 (add an extra sc here if needed to land yourself at the side of the frog’s body).
Make the first arm/leg: Chain 14. Sc in the 4th chain from your hook. (Chain 3, sc in that same chain) twice. Sc 10 stitches back up the chain to complete the limb.
Continue on the body: sc 8. Repeat the arm/leg instructions above to make the second one.
Round 6: Sc around. (16 sts) On this round, push the arms/legs outward as you work so every stitch lands on the body itself rather than getting caught in a limb.
Round 7: Sc 7. Sc increase. Sc 7. Sc increase. (18 sts)
Rounds 8–11: Sc around. (18 sts, all 4 rounds)
Round 12 & closing: Sc a few more stitches until you’re positioned at the side of the frog, then make one more arm/leg using the same instructions as before. Stuff the frog’s body firmly.
Closing the frog: Fold the frog so the open stitches on the bottom meet together. Take the first 2 stitches closest to the arm/leg you just made, slip your hook through the back loop of both, and slip stitch them together. Continue slip stitching the next 6 stitches together in pairs. Make the final (4th) arm/leg. Slip stitch the remaining stitches together to fully close the frog. Fasten off.
Stitch count checkpoints
| Round | St count |
| 1 | 18 |
| 2 | 16 |
| 3–4 | 16 (both) |
| 6 | 16 |
| 7 | 18 |
| 8–11 | 18 (all) |
Common mistakes
| Mistake | Fix |
| Legs get caught into Round 6’s stitch count | Push each arm/leg firmly out to the side before working the stitch behind it, so your hook stays on the body loop, not the limb |
| Final closure looks uneven | Slip stitch each pair through the back loop only, consistently — mixing front-loop and back-loop closures on different pairs is what causes a lopsided seam |
| Legs come out different lengths | Count your chain-14 foundation carefully for each of the 4 limbs — even one extra or missing chain is noticeable on a piece this small |
Finishing
Weave in all ends. Since this pattern closes with slip stitches rather than a traditional running-stitch cinch, double check the final seam is snug before fastening off — stuffing has less resistance to escape through a slip-stitch closure if it’s left loose.
